![]() The clocks have gone back, the coats and scarves are seeing daylight again, leaves cover the pavements… autumn is well and truly here! I do love this time of year (even though I’m more of a summer girl), when you hear crunching leaves beneath your feet, scarves and coats are making an appearance and Christmas is nearly here!! Yes I’m already thinking about Christmas. There are some things about autumn that does make me wish summer was here though- when it starts to go dark at 3pm. Autumn makes you wake up and go to sleep in the darkness, and I really hate it. It’s always a pain having to drag myself out of bed to see no sunlight outside the window.
Autumn can be annoying when it’s that horrible in between weather- you step outside and it's freezing, then as soon as you start walking its boiling!! When I get on the tube it's always so warm which isn’t a surprise, but then I get to university and it's either far too warm or so freezing!! I much prefer autumn when you know that you will 100% have to wear a coat everyday, because it is always cold.

If you follow me on social media, Instagram especially, you’ll know how much I love the autumnal leaves. I always take pictures and videos when I’m walking in the leaves- I love the crunching sound they make and just the way they make me feel all cosy. I love the autumn sunsets too, here's a picture I took the other evening.
-What’s your favourite thing about autumn? Do you get that cosy feeling when you walk in leaves, or is it just me?

Now that I passed my theory, I had a mock test for driving on Wednesday and let me tell you...I did mess up a few times. Bear in mind this was my first one.
It was pretty nerve racking (still can't believe I'm nearly on my way to completing my driving) but all in all I didn't do that badly- I did pick up a few minors that I know I shouldn't do, but the thing is when I'm on a normal driving lesson I don't do most of those things so maybe it was my nerves getting the better of me? All the things he pulled me up on, are things I know are wrong and I know how to correct them! I'm so hard on myself because I know I can do better and I know most of the time I don't make those mistakes! When I got home I was so annoyed at myself for doing silly mistakes but after speaking to my mum and my friends I realised that it really didn't matter if I messed this up. It was only a practice run and the whole point of it was to see my errors and know that I can change them; not to make me feel bad and think I can't drive! As well as making me realise my mistakes and where I need to improve, it's made me realise it's okay to have mistakes and to mess up here and there because it's only a practice-it's not the real thing (it would be a completely different story if was haha)!! That's the whole point of doing mock tests!! I do feel such an idiot when I look back I see that it's really not a big deal, because it's only a practice. Why am I always hard on myself?!?
After two years of putting it off I finally did it. It was very nerve racking as I did it for the first time about a month ago, and failed by one mark (how annoying). I was upset and annoyed at myself because I knew I could it, but I dusted myself off and booked in for another one month later. And here I am!!!
I feel like the theory test this time round went a lot smoothly and I felt more relaxed and calm than the first time. I knew how everything was going to be, what I needed to do, whereas the first time I was nervous about everything- where do I go to sign in, where do I leave my stuff etc. I was worrying about little things which is probably why I failed- I was o stressed out. But that’s alright!! There’s so many people out there (on social media and in real life) who go on about failure and how it's such a bad thing, but it really isn’t- if you fail you fail, it's not the end of world. For me, failing the first time taught me that it's ok to not do everything first time around and that’s part of life- there’s no use stressing over things like theory tests when there’s worse things happening in the world!! Yes I am kicking myself that I can’t say “I passed my theory test first time”, but who cares? I did it and that’s all that matters!! Now that I’ve done it, my instructor wants me to book my driving test!! He says I’m nearly ready and because there’s about a five week wait, I will be ready to do it when the test comes around. It’s a bit scary as it is all happening so fast now. I can’t believe I’m close to completing driving. I hope it doesn’t take me ages to pass my driving test- but at the end of the day it’s not worth stressing about. I’ll post more driving updates about how I get on- especially as I’m so close to the finishing line now. Also, I’m doing my first mock test on Wednesday which will be interesting, so I’ll let you know how it goes!! -Have you started driving lessons? Have you passed your theory test and/or driving test? what was it like?
Today I visited Kensington Palace with mum, to see the Princess Diana exhibition. It was about her fashion from when she was first in the public eye, to the months before her dead. It was a small exhibition which was surprising but nonetheless I was so glad we got to see it.
It was very moving but did send shivers down my spine, being stood in front of the dresses she would have worn, whilst the whole world watched her. The layout of the exhibition made it even more special with the glass cases containing her statement dress in the centre, then quotes from different designers on the surrounding walls. I was mesmerised by the whole collection, and it really helped me to image what she was like as a person- because unfortunately I wasn't alive when she was, I wish I had!! I took a lot of pictures of the different dresses, as well as some of the quotes shown. You could see everyone was mesmerised by it all.
It was interesting to see the difference between the dresses she wore when she was married to prince Charles, and the ones where they were separated and divorced. Dresses were more conservative when she was married (which was no surprise as she was part of the royal family), but more feminine, playful dresses when she was divorced.
I loved the shorter dresses worn in the late 1990s, along with the sequinned, glittery dresses. The details within every dress were fascinating to see up close too! The details on this dress below were stunning!! The birds were sparkly and glittery, and continued all the way down the train, to the floor. The dress below was one of my favourites as it glistened at every angle, even though it was a simply design. The details again were incredible.
There were also designs which were made by different designers, shown at the exhibition. It was lovely to see the originals dress designs in person.
I absolutely loved the exhibition overall. The atmosphere really added to the experience, and it was incredible to see the different styles Princess Diana wore over the years.
I’m going to start something new on my blog- every mouth/season I’ll be uploading a new playlist, which I’ve created on Spotify. Some songs I’ve only started to listen to, others are some of my favourites. All the songs in this playlist give me that autumn feel, even though they are from different genres. I know I will be listening to this playlist whilst doing uni work, just chilling and obviously on my daily commute to uni.
Follow me on Spotify- @_lidiaamico
-What songs are you currently listening to? What songs would you place in an autumn playlist?
These first few weeks of uni have been craaaazy! I already have three assignments due in for the weekend, help me!!! But whilst I’ve been working my butt off, I’ve been thinking of disney. I miss being at disney- going on the rides, meeting characters, making wonderful magical memories. So why not do a blog about the things which are on my bucket list? One day I hope I can say I’ve done most of these things.. maybe all? maybe... one day.

Okay let’s face facts, no ones perfect right? You’re never going to please everyone no matter how hard you try- trust me I know. You could be nicest person, the best at everything but there will always be one person who disagrees with something you do.
It is okay to disagree with others from time to time, that’s the whole reason for opinions, and it very unlikely you’re going to lose friends over different opinions. Yeah you might get the ‘what?!’s and ‘I can’t believe that!!’s, but who isn’t a stranger to these reactions? Anyway here’s a few things where those reactions are brought up. I'm embracing these things, you embrace yours!!! I don’t drink tea or coffee *shock horror*.
I always get stared at when I tell my friends or family ‘I don’t like tea or coffee’. What’s wrong with that? Yes I’m still a nine year old- I would much rather drink hot chocolate with marshmallows. My mum’s family look at me like I’m an alien when I refuse a cup of tea, especially as they are from Yorkshire!!
Preferring to watch smaller, less known Youtubers compared with bigger, famous ones.
I would much rather spend my time watching people on youtube with less than 200,000 subscribers. Most aren’t arrogant or brag about the number of subscribers etc, whereas I've found bigger youtubers tend to do this- I'm not saying all famous ones do though!! Don’t get me wrong some famous youtubers seem really lovely and are so grateful to have the huge amount of followers.
I'm boring when it comes to Nando’s spice.
Yes I’m that person who orders the least amount of spice possible when going to Nando’s. All my friends laugh when I say I only have lemon and herd or mango and lime. Even that is spicy for me!!
I’m a lightweight when it comes to drinking.
I’m such a lightweight but that suits me fine- I prefer to drink for pleasure, not to get drunk and making a fool of myself. I’m that girl who looks after friends when they have had too much to drink. Some friends think I can’t enjoy the night because I don’t drink lots but I don’t need alcohol to have a fun time, just give me water and I'll be on the dance floor!!
I panic and stress over the smallest things.
Everyone knows I'm a worrier and stress so much about things. I can’t help it and I’m trying to worry less but it's just me- if you don’t like that then you know where the door is (bringing that sass to the blog haha!!).
I have the ultimate baby face.
Whether it's going to see a 12 rated film (yes I’m 19 but get asked for ID when seeing a 12) or going to an 18+ event, I always get asked to show my ID. I’ve got used to it but a lot of friends still find it annoying- If they ask me for ID they will ask my friends too. I’ve learnt to embrace my youthfulness and my baby face, it doesn’t faze me anymore.
I could think of some many more things that bother others, but I won’t bore you. -What things are you embracing which bothers others about yourself? Do you have the same or different ones to me?
I'm so happy to be writing reviews again.I cannot remember the last time I uploaded one to be honest it's been that long!!
Anyway this one, if you haven't guessed already by the picture, will be a movie review (My favourite to write!!). Yesterday I went to see 'Flatliners' and it was amazing. If you haven't seen the 80's original version then I would highly recommend to watch that first- to get a sense of the storyline and the original ideas. 'Flatliners' is about a group of trainee doctors who are trying to discover if there's an afterlife, and what happens to you. They each flatline and monitor the brains activities whilst they have died, to see if parts of the brain are still "active" in sense. However in the recent film they discover weird and quite sinister things that occur once brought back to life. Are their sins coming to haunt them? Comparing the 80's with the recent one, I would say the new one is creepier and more mysterious. The original mainly focuses on if the trainees can bring each other back to life in time without anything going wrong or getting caught. The more recent one however, focuses on what the trainees experience whilst dead, and how the brain reacts. As you can tell the focuses are slightly different, but the main plot is similar throughout both. The recent one is more interesting due to what they find when flatlined (it is very in-depth with the afterlife, what they each experience, and how they deal with the consequences of flatlining), however in my opinion I prefer the original. The original is less creepy and doesn't really play mind games, unlike the re make. I jumped a lot in the cinema yesterday too, which I'm not a big fan of haha! Also I love the 80's vibe and feel with the original, unlike the new one with modern equipment, setting etc. The re-make did have a few references to the original, for example similar lines, but I feel like they should have included more to link the two together. Having said that, if you're a fan of creepy films which make you jump out of your seat and question things like the afterlife I would recommend to watch it! Even if that's not your cup of tea, why not go and see it? Watch something out of your comfort zone? -What films have you watched recently? Have you seen 'Flatliners', the original or the re-make? Would you go and see it? |
