Today I visited Kensington Palace with mum, to see the Princess Diana exhibition. It was about her fashion from when she was first in the public eye, to the months before her dead. It was a small exhibition which was surprising but nonetheless I was so glad we got to see it.
βIt was very moving but did send shivers down my spine, being stood in front of the dresses she would have worn, whilst the whole world watched her. The layout of the exhibition made it even more special with the glass cases containing her statement dress in the centre, then quotes from different designers on the surrounding walls. I was mesmerised by the whole collection, and it really helped me to image what she was like as a person- because unfortunately I wasn't alive when she was, I wish I had!! β I took a lot of pictures of the different dresses, as well as some of the quotes shown. You could see everyone was mesmerised by it all. β
It was interesting to see the difference between the dresses she wore when she was married to prince Charles, and the ones where they were separated and divorced. Dresses were more conservative when she was married (which was no surprise as she was part of the royal family), but more feminine, playful dresses when she was divorced.
I loved the shorter dresses worn in the late 1990s, along with the sequinned, glittery dresses. The details within every dress were fascinating to see up close too! The details on this dress below were stunning!! The birds were sparkly and glittery, and continued all the way down the train, to the floor. The dress below was one of my favourites as it glistened at every angle, even though it was a simply design. The details again were incredible.
There were also designs which were made by different designers, shown at the exhibition. It was lovely to see the originals dress designs in person.
I absolutely loved the exhibition overall. The atmosphere really added to the experience, and it was incredible to see the different styles Princess Diana wore over the years.
