Okay it's been a while... but I'm back!!!! I've been so busy these last for months sorting out and settling into uni. Nevertheless, I'm finding uni amazing- yes there have been hard days but I'm getting there! I will definitely try to upload more posts from now on too as I missed it so much! I will be getting back to posting my monthly favourites so look out for them. I will upload a little shopping haul after this post so make sure you keep an eye out for this post as well!!
The course I'm doing is so interesting but it is completely different to what I've been taught throughout school. The course is all about the linguistic aspect of English along with the language of English- the three modules I am currently doing this term are Language in the UK, Foundations to Linguistics and Sounds of English. So it's all about Sociolinguistics, Phonetics, Phonology, Morphology, Semantics and Pragmatics and Syntax- don't worry if you have no clue what I'm on about, I didn't until I started haha. I'm so glad I decided to choose this course because even though some aspects are difficult to get your head around, I am learning so much more about the English language which I hadn't learnt during Alevels, GCSE and even primary school. I've just completed my first assignment as well, which was slightly daunting but it was okay in the end! I have five more assignments to complete however before Christmas which I am very nervous about!! I'm meeting so many lovely people at uni, from my course and from joining societies, which is amazing. Before starting uni, there was always a doubt in my mind saying 'what if I don't meet new people', 'what if I can't make new friends' which is only normal- since starting secondary school I have been around the same people (definitely not a bad thing), and I thought I had forgotten how to make new friends. Also, as I am not staying on campus, I thought that it would be really difficult to meet people, but I soon gathered lots of other people felt the same way! Everyone at uni is in the same position as you, and everyone wants to meet new people so it comes naturally! I am still keeping in touch with my friends from school which is lovely! We keep asking each other how work or uni is going, and it's so nice to see that they are all settling in so well! I'm so glad I have stayed in contact with them since leaving school in July, and I really hope I continue to meet up with them in the years to come! This blog post was just a little update on how uni life is going so far! If anyone reading is thinking about going to uni or are in the process, I really hope this has helped you to see what uni is like!
