Seeing as it's becoming warmer (slightly) and festivals are starting to be announced, I have put together a little concert guide for you all- I'm going to a gig tomorrow so why not share some of my concert tips and tricks!!
1. Without even thinking about the gig you have to first think about what to wear. This is very important as you don't want to feel uncomfortable throughout the whole night, because that would definitely ruin the chances of you enjoying yourself! I tend to wear comfortable jeans, a t-shirt and jumper, but sometimes I do wear a skirt or a dress (depending on how I'm feeling). I would definitely recommend some sort of jumper, cardigan or even a flannel so that you aren't too cold whilst waiting outside- you can then just put in your bag during the gig if you get too hot. I find that a rucksack is the best option for a gig (or a across the body bag), especially if it's a standing gig as you don't want to be placing it on the floor, or carrying it on your arm the whole night!! 2. On the topic of what to wear, you need a nice pair of comfortable shoes to wear especially if your standing. I tend to boots that have a heel (trust me I need them as I'm only 5ft!) but honestly they are so comfortable and they make me that little bit taller so I can see what's going on! Other shoes to wear could be vans or converse as they are super comfortable to jump about in, and won't create blisters on your feet! 3. Next you need to decide what to have inside your bag. I would definitely say to keep a bottle of water in our bag; it can get quite hot at a gig so it's important to keep hydrated! Some venues however do ask you to take bottle lids off but I don't find it to be a problem. I would also suggest to carry the essentials like a hairbrush, hair bobbles, some money, and a portable charger. Okay, this charger is vital because you don't want to your phone to die whilst your trying to take photos of you and your mates, or of the band/artist you are there to see- trust me it's not a very good feeling. Portable chargers are a must and can be considered your 'life saver' at a gig! 4. Make friends, or meet friends who you follow on social media!!! If some of the people on social media are going to same gig as you, why not go and meet them in queue or inside the venue?! I've met so many of my friends at gigs and it's honestly amazing- you are all having the best time seeing your favourite band/solo artist, and you are with lovely people! Or if you don't know anyone going, what's stopping you from making friends in the queue? Speak to them about your favourite member or the other bands you like. Exchange your social media usernames and have a great time surrounded by great people, who share the same music interests with you! 5. I know the feeling when you want to be at the front to see your faves on stage, but please don't push and rush straight for the front, especially if you are in a large group. Have some manners for the people around you, because this will only make others around you annoyed, and ruin their night. Wherever you are stood or sat you will have a great view, and you will enjoy your night so please don't push and shove. 6. Finally, just enjoy the gig! Laugh with the people who you're with, sing until you have no voice whatsoever, and dance until your feet ache and feel like they are going to fall off. Concerts are where I've met some amazing friends and they hold the best memories for me.
