I'm so happy to be writing reviews again.I cannot remember the last time I uploaded one to be honest it's been that long!!
Anyway this one, if you haven't guessed already by the picture, will be a movie review (My favourite to write!!). Yesterday I went to see 'Flatliners' and it was amazing. If you haven't seen the 80's original version then I would highly recommend to watch that first- to get a sense of the storyline and the original ideas. 'Flatliners' is about a group of trainee doctors who are trying to discover if there's an afterlife, and what happens to you. They each flatline and monitor the brains activities whilst they have died, to see if parts of the brain are still "active" in sense. However in the recent film they discover weird and quite sinister things that occur once brought back to life. Are their sins coming to haunt them? Comparing the 80's with the recent one, I would say the new one is creepier and more mysterious. The original mainly focuses on if the trainees can bring each other back to life in time without anything going wrong or getting caught. The more recent one however, focuses on what the trainees experience whilst dead, and how the brain reacts. As you can tell the focuses are slightly different, but the main plot is similar throughout both. The recent one is more interesting due to what they find when flatlined (it is very in-depth with the afterlife, what they each experience, and how they deal with the consequences of flatlining), however in my opinion I prefer the original. The original is less creepy and doesn't really play mind games, unlike the re make. I jumped a lot in the cinema yesterday too, which I'm not a big fan of haha! Also I love the 80's vibe and feel with the original, unlike the new one with modern equipment, setting etc. The re-make did have a few references to the original, for example similar lines, but I feel like they should have included more to link the two together. Having said that, if you're a fan of creepy films which make you jump out of your seat and question things like the afterlife I would recommend to watch it! Even if that's not your cup of tea, why not go and see it? Watch something out of your comfort zone? -What films have you watched recently? Have you seen 'Flatliners', the original or the re-make? Would you go and see it?
