![]() Last week I attended a free event which was hosted by Coca Cola and Netflix, for the release of the new season of Stranger Things! It was in Brick Lane, London and was absolutely insane!! Here’s all what happened when we stepped back in time to the 80s... We arrived at Brick Lane just when the arcade was opening, and stood in a queue for around an hour. We got even a free coke bottle, and then me and my brother got approached by a woman who asked us “do you wanna know the truth?”. At first we thought that she was wanting to cut in front of us, or ask why we were standing there. But we then realised by her question and the 80s style clothing she wore, that she was an actress part of the event. She asked us if we had seen any strange sightings in London and that the monsters must have travelled from Hawkins! She gave us a poster which had a website and she told us we needed to visit the website to see the truth. We thought it was great that she chose to speak to us! And what’s more the website was actually a little clue game! It was great to bypass the time. We had to figure out a coded message, using picture clues based on tv show. Once we stood outside of the arcade, we got given three free tokens which let us play on the arcade games. Each game was one token so we got three games each! There were all types of games, from Pac-man, to Space invaders, to Dragon’s Lair! We had so much fun and it felt like we had been transported back into the 1980s. They had 80s music playing throughout which was amazing, as this is my type of music! There was also a massive door that was decorated like a coke vending machine- with upside down numbers of course! There was a woman stood “guarding” the door and if we corrected the right code, five people at a time could pass through into the upside down. It was sooo much fun travelling through. It was really dark, with smoke and lasers and there were even people handing out limited edition coke cans through the walls! Arcade games in the upside down weren’t as much fun, which slime and dust on them. One member of staff also came out of a side door and talked in my ear which obviously made me jump and scream, haha! We were in the arcade/upside down for about an hour, so waiting in the queue was definitely worth it! Before we left we got a photo taken of us on a Polaroid camera, and they put it in a special frame for the event. When we left, we got even a hand stamp to allow us a free ice cream at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream van!! Of course we had to wait in a queue again, but it was really worth it. The van played spooky, stranger music and there were two scoops ahoy employees giving out the ice cream. I had the banana and toffee flavoured one and my brother had the cherry one. They were so delicious. I could have had another one for sure haha. Once we got given our ice cream, there was a little photo spot at the side of the van. We got even some props which was again so much fun!! I keep saying it but we really enjoyed it! For a few hours we felt like we were a part of the show, which was incredible. Stranger things is one of our favourite shows, so to feel a part of it was so so special. I’m so glad we got to see, do and got given so many free things!! I really wish more events like this can happen in the future, because it was an incredible experience. I wanna feel a part of stranger things more!! And I didn’t think I’d be saying that, with all the monsters around... If you followed along with my Instagram stories, I really hope you enjoyed them!! It was great to share the experience with people who wished they could be there! Fingers crossed they will more things like this, so more fans can immerse themselves in the show! I've had so much fun documenting this event for the blog too!! I hope you enjoyed reading. Bee Yourself
