![]() Disney bounding, for anyone unaware, is form of disney style which can be done anywhere- on a disney trip or even during your everyday life. It consists of taking certain colours and designs of a Disney character and creating an inspired outfit of that particular character. Most of the time disney bounds are of characters, however you could disney bound anything- a certain park, land or even ride! There’s no right or wrong way to Disney bound in my opinion, you’ve just got to remember to have fun! On my recent trip to disney I decided to do not one but two disney bounds. I was really unsure at first because I’d never done this style before, and with there being no rules it made me very nervous. My first bound was at Dapper Day (where you dress to impress for the day!). I bounded as Snow White and it turned out so much better than what I had imagined. My next bound was Piglet, and this was actually a group bound with my two friends who I went on the trip with. In the group we had piglet, Winnie and eeyore! Our bounds worked perfectly as did everyone’s on dapper day too! The Snow White bound was a lot more planned but I think both turned out extremely well. Since sharing my bounds on my Instagram account, people have asked me how I did it and that I've inspired others to try out disney bounding. The response has been amazing and I didn’t even imagine the amount of love I have got from the outfits. So having completing two successful bounds, here’s some tips and tricks for anyone wanting to dip their toes into the world of disney bounding. I am no expert however, these are just my tips and opinions on how to disney bound! I will be sharing some links to the clothing I used for these bounds so keep reading if you wanna see that- plus some cute pictures too. 1. Try not to over think your boundWhen I first started to plan my bounds, I overthought it a lot. I thought my dress needed to be identical to Snow’s and I searched everywhere for the same dress and accessories. However, I realised bounding has no rules. You make up the rules and create your own style. Just because another person on Instagram has used a near enough identical dress for her Snow White bound, doesn’t mean you have to do the same. Which brings me onto my next point… 2. Have your own style At the end of the day, it’s your interpretation of that character’s (or land/ride etc) outfit so have fun and create your own style! Use the person or thing you are bounding as a template to construct your own interpretation. With my Snow White bound you can tell it’s not 100% accurate as, Snow’s dress isn’t gingham, she has a cape and there wasn’t one in my bound, she doesn’t wear a red belt, and her dress has puffed sleeves. But that’s okay! You don’t have to copy the outfit, all you are doing is taking elements (like colours) of the person or thing and turning it into a disney inspired outfit. 3. Just remember bounding is mostly only to do with coloursRemember that your bound doesn’t have to be complicated for people to understand who are bounding as. Just a simple plush like with my piglet bound can help tie the outfit together, or even my Snow White bag (obviously not saying you have to buy a plush or a bag for your bounds haha). So if you have a disney bag for example that has a character on it or resembles a character, maybe that could help you decide on what bound you want to do if you’re struggling. Back to colours though, all you need to do is wear the colours that resembles that certain character! I’ll give you some examples:
So it’s just colour blocking your outfits! It’s as simple as that! Then once you’ve decided the colours you can decide where you want to wear the colours. For example with Winnie you may choose to wear red (like a top) on the top half of your body and wear yellow (like shorts/trousers/skirt) on your bottom half. Of course you don’t have to do it this way! You could do it visa versa, or wear a yellow dress and red scarf for example (or vice versa!). It doest really matter as long as you have the main colours of the character. If you want to bound as a land for example, it’s mainly the same concept however I feel like you have more control, because there is not just one or two colours attached to a certain land. For example with a Fantasyland bound you could wear different clothing which resemble different princesses (rapunzel top, flowy skirt, castle jewellery, cinderella bag for example) or you could wear pink, purple, blue type colours with sparkles! The same with Frontierland for example, you may what to wear a thunder mountain top, with brown shorts and a cowboy hat! Again there’s no rules to disney bounding, just have fun and play around with what you’ve got. 4. Use clothing/accessories you already haveYou don’t have to spend a fortune on a whole new outfit. Look through the clothing you already have to save money. Most bounds consist of taking the most prominent colours of the character or thing and placing them in correct areas on your body. So for example with Snow her outfit consists of yellow, white, red and blue. And with piglet it’s just pink and stripes. Both of my bounds reused items I already had, which also shows my unique interpretation of the two characters. With my Snow White bound I already had the yellow dress, apple bag and shoes so I made my bound around those items. Then I searched for other important colours of Snow’s dress (red, blue and white) to add to my outfit. With my Piglet bound I reused by rose gold pink ears and a pink jumper. Then I searched for an inexpensive striped pink top, pink skirt and a piglet plush. As you can see my bounds didn’t completely use things I already had, however I made sure the items I did buy I could reuse in everyday or for more disney bounds/outfits. This then makes spending a bit of money feel a lot better because I know I will reuse them one or another. 5. Make a list of your outfit clothing/items when planningBy creating a list, it will be less likely for you to go off and overthink things. If you do want to buy new clothing/items for your bound, a list will also make you stay on track and not by unnecessary things. Then as you buy things, do a check list to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything. I know it sounds so simple but it really makes a good difference. 6. It’s okay to reuse outfitsIf you’re in the Disney community then you’ll understand when I say that Instagram shows this conception where it isn’t 'popular' to reuse outfits or different items within an outfit. Or I felt like that anyway. You know, you see people open new disney clothing all the time and you think “oh yeah I need that!” When really most of the time you don’t. But it’s okay to reuse pieces of clothing and share it on your Instagram. You don’t have to buy new clothing for every Disney trip because you need to have pictures in different clothing. Reuse things in your wardrobe. Most Disney bounds require normal/classic clothing that everyone has in their wardrobes, so you don’t need to feel like you have to a whole wardrobe to create disney outfits/bounds. 7. Check sites like Amazon for decent clothingI got a lot of my clothing which I wore for my bounds from Amazon. The quality is great and for most clothing they have a range of different colours so you are likely to find something you need. It’s really inexpensive too and I definitely know I’ll wear the things I’ve bought again! Primark is also a good place if you are struggling because they have a lot basic clothing, as well as disney stuff for a good price! I hope those little tips and tricks make it a clearer for anyone wanting to try it out! Below are the links to all of the items of clothing I wore for both my disney bounds. As I said earlier I already had some stuff so if there isn’t a link, it's because I can’t find it anymore. Please let me know if this was helpful because I had fun writing this, and would love to write more “disney tips and tricks” type blogs! Also if you are inspired to disney bound from this post or my bounds please let me know/tag me in pictures on Instagram! I’d love to see them!
