![]() During the middle of August my family and I went to Florida for two weeks. It was incredible. We of course went to Walt Disney World, stayed on site, had the disney dining plan, and even went to Universal Orlando Resort for a few days. During our trip we experienced a lot of things new to us, so my blog will feature lots of reviews, tips and tricks we experienced during our trip in the up coming months- which I would love to share!! First things first though, I want to share our experience of the Courtyard by Marriott London Gatwick Hotel. We decided to stay in a London Gatwick hotel the night before our flight (even though it wasn’t until the afternoon). Because our flight was on a Monday, we knew traffic and London transport would be so hectic to get to Gatwick and a pain with all our luggage, so we decided to stay over at Gatwick the night before. We had never done this before but we thought we might as well give it a try. And let me tell you it was definitely worth it…. Distance from the airport: 5/5 StarsThe hotel was about a 5-10 minute walk to and from Gatwick South Terminal, which suited us fine the day of our flight. There is a shuttle bus to and from which was around £3 each per journey, however we decided to walk as we had plenty of time before our flight. Once we got to the South Terminal however, we did have to take the terminal shuttle over to the North Terminal, so if you walk bare that in mind too. The day we checked in at the hotel, we decided to walk too as there were signs from Gatwick train station all the way to the hotel. The walk was really straight forward, and there were good pathways to help walking with luggage. The room: 5/5 Stars![]() The hotel room was just your typical place to stay for the night; clean, tidy, comfortable and convenient. The room was a nice size for the three of us, the beds were big and comfy and there was enough space for all our luggage and bags. I especially liked how there was room by the door for shoes and luggage! That way, the space around the beds were free of bags and luggage. The bathroom was a good size too, and the shower was great! Just what you needed to freshen up before a long haul flight. The TV however, did not actually work properly. When we phoned reception to make them aware it was broken before we got into the room, we did get offered if we wanted a technician to come and fix it but we weren’t too fussed about using it so we declined. They were really helpful and apologetic about the fault and it didn’t really bother us too much which is why I’ve still given the room 5 stars. Buffet breakfast: 5/5 StarsWe decided to pay extra for the three of us to have an all you could eat style breakfast the morning of our flight. We got down there pretty early, and it wasn’t too busy. There were all kinds of food; from cereal, to toast, cooked breakfast, to fruit. And the area where breakfast was hosted was just by the bar, near reception which wasn’t hard to find either. Friendliness of staff: 5/5 StarsThe staff were really helpful and gave us all of the information we needed for our stay. Checking in and Checking out was really simple and easy. The staff at breakfast were really friendly too, as well as the bar staff on the evening we checked in- we decided to celebrate the start of our holiday with a drink down at the bar and it was lovely. Overall: 5/5 StarsThis was a lovely one night stay, and was definitely less hassle than travelling from home to the airport the day of our flight. It meant we would relax and not have to worry about a delayed journey, getting up extra early or anything like that. I hope we decide to stay there again when we next have a long haul flight at Gatwick, because it was so worth it. I would definitely recommend staying at the Courtyard hotel because of the good price, great location and convenience.
Let me know if you have stayed here or at any of the other Gatwick hotels! What are your opinions? Make sure to follow my Instagram (@_tangledindisney) for all my adventures! Lidia xx
